Why this
- I chose this major to explore because of my passion for fitness. I believe the hardest thing about staying healthy is watching what we eat, how much we eat, and how our bodies digest it. Everyone’s diet is different, we get to choose what we put into our bodies every day based on our goals, or just what we’re in the mood for.
Professor
- Talk about professor’s quote… “Nutrition is really the science of food, from the way we grow food, the way we process it, consume it, and digest it all impacts our health. People think it’s just about telling people to eat healthily and it’s so much more than that, it’s about the science behind it, it’s about education, it is about connecting people to food and where it comes from and connecting it to people’s health.” When people think of what nutrition is, they think of food, diets, and staying healthy. Although those can be a big factor, nutrition is all about the science behind it and educating people about where their food comes from and how it affects our bodies.
Student 1
- Talk about different nutrition courses; the 3-hour cooking class as a “lab” where we cook recipes, eat them, then talk about it. Also, talk about how she went from med bio, to nursing, to nutrition. Lots of range and switching her major to find her passion.
Student 2
- Talk about the internship she is going to do and how helpful that can be for the seniors, being able to educate them about a specific topic in nutrition on her own time.
- How clearing her sports schedule helped her have time for extra curriculars
Real world
-After interviewing all three people, I got a great sense of how the next 4-6 years would look for me as a nutritionist if I decided to go for this major. Student 1 honestly explained with me how the courses were, the work load, and how she personally liked them or did not like them.
